BLESSINGS IN MY PATHWAY

JUNE BLESSING  1933

Here I was, nestled in the arms of my father and mother.
Born in 1933,  I was fortunate.    Both Mother and Dad were born in 1915 a bit over 17 years old.
I KNEW I WAS LOVED.
OH IT WAS SO NICE WHEN MOTHER HELD ME
TALKED TO ME,
SUNG TO ME.

DAD WAS NOT MUCH TO SAY MUCH, BUT I KNEW HE LOVED ME.
I COULD TELL.

YOU SEE, I KNEW FROM THE START I WAS
SIMPLY GOING TO BE A BLESSING TO MY FAMILY.

INTERESTING HOW PEOPLE'S LIVES
GET COMPLICATED
WHEN A LITTLE
BABY
IS ON THE WAY.

Here was my Mother Vida May with her father Forest Raymond Carpenter.    She had red hair.    Her mother had red hair.   Her grandfather Luther Wilbur Brewer had red hair.  And so now here I am, making my entrance into the family with my auburn red hair.

Here is the town of Adams, Massachusetts, about the turn of the century in 1900.     My mother was of English stock, her mother and father both related to the Rehoboth Colony of those that came over on the Mayflower in 1622.

My mother's father, Forrest Raymond Carpenter, worked on his father's farm.  Located in Cheshire Massachusetts, he helped peddle milk to the folk in the area, as well as all the things they grew and produced on the farm.

I HAVE 14 DIARIES OF THE DAYS IN WHICH THE FARM WAS ALIVE AND WELL.

From 1886 to 1924 I have transcribed the records they made of their life around the farm.  Amazing that I have these.

THIS HOME WAS THE HOME OF SUSAN B. ANTHONY,   located in Adams Massachusetts - She was born and lived in Adams, even as I did.    The Adams Memorial Hospital still exists.

My mother's mother was not from the Berkshires, rather she was from
Exeter, New Hampshire - and was blessed with the York Beach home that her Mother and Father had
there on the bay.

Here is a photo of the York Beach or of the Eastham
Beach in Cape Cod.     My great grandfather Luther Wilbur Brewer and his wife Vida May (Ingalls) Brewer were settled here.  My great grandfather was a Leather Tanner - working on the gear that people needed for their horses and the carriages, as well as for the machinery that was used on the farm.

I have so much to share.   Walk with me in my Blog, and discover something of what I believe is a sense of strong FAITH and quiet determined convictions within the souls of these dear folk.

Here are my great grandfather and his wife, with their croquet mallets.    Life was hard, but they did enjoy games on the lawn.

This is their home on York Beach Maine where all the rich and famous go to resort now.   They had a clan of about 14 families that all owned cottages there where now they are all rentals for tourists who come to York Beach.      Bampy was a darling man, who knew how to laugh, was a hard worker, but could enjoy a day with his family.    My grandmother Lillias May Brewer had one sister
whose name was Flossie.

Grandmother went to college - it was a Ladies' college for teachers - and she taught at PRIMARY SCHOOL FOR THREE YEARS....and that is another story.  Watch for my next blog.
You might see some interesting things.

Jesus declared that He was the Light of the World.   My great grandfather on both sides of the family were strong believers in God's Word.     They were not perfect.   They knew it.   The families they founded benefited from their faith.   I treasure this.    God bless you and give you a sense of His Love and may you dig into God's Word the Holy Bible to discover that same faith.

HERE ARE THREE SISTERS -
VISITING THEIR GRANDMOTHER AT YORK BEACH MAINE
VIDA MAY,  ESTHER AND ALTHEA CARPENTER.

IT WAS SO LONG AGO.  BUT SO DEAR TO MY HEART IS THE OCEAN,
AND THESE THREE LADIES.   MY MOTHER'S SISTERS
WERE LIKE BIG SISTERS TO ME.   WHEN I WAS IN BORN IN 1933  BECAUSE I WAS THE FIRST GREAT GRAND CHILD, AND THE FIRST GRAND CHILD, HOW SPOILED COULD I GET.   THEY DOTED ON ME.   I DO NOT EVER REMEMBER ANYTHING EXCEPT LOVE
AND CONSIDERATION.
