LIVING TODAY AND TOMORROW - LEISURE
Written in 1949
All American communities have a highly developed social life. Social life is important to everyone, but too many activities are as harmful as not enough.
We must determine what type of clubs or groups will give us the most satisfaction and confine our interest to them.
Recreation is a common element in community life.
Movies [Videos] can be a very force for good or evil, only desultory attempts are made at regulation or supervision.
We must guard against such places of
entertainment, as pool halls, cocktail bars,
parties which have no rules they lead
to difficulties.
Henry's Own Thoughts on Leisure
Churches should provide the right type
of recreation for the children and young people.
If we are busy for the Lord, we will not have time to do things that
are questionable.
We should choose the type of recreation
that helps us both in body and mind.
Reading good books and magazines
is a good way to spending one's leisure.
One should spend part of his leisure time
just resting and relaxing.
WHEN HENRY WAS WITH US, HE OFTEN
WAS FOND OF REPEATING THAT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO FIND TIME TO RELAX AND TO BE ABLE TO SLOW DOWN.
WHEN CONSIDERING ACTIVITIES AND LEISURE
IT IS IMPORTANT TO PLAN TIME FOR THE FAMILY
TO BE TOGETHER.
A PERSON NEEDS TO
BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET SO BUSY YOU
DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR YOUR FAMILY
